Master of Arts in Theology and Biblical Languages
Program Overview
One place the university can support the local church is by providing those skills and competencies that are not as readily accessible in our churches. The two competencies that we are passionate about developing in future church leaders are adeptness with the biblical languages and systematic theology. Both of these skills will supplement the strong Bible teaching on the Old and New Testaments in our churches to round out a full, holistic disciple making leader. In this program you will learn the core features of the biblical languages and how to use contemporary software tools to employ the biblical languages in your training. This strong language emphasis is coupled with three Systematic Theology courses covering in great detail the ten common domains of doctrinal study. Additionally, you will learn a strong model for engaging the culture through Christian ethics as well as your personal spiritual disciplines and the methods of biblical theologians. This program is designed to go deeply into those features of the faith most commonly inaccessible to churchgoers.
Program Objectives
- Learn how to understand the structure and features of biblical Hebrew and biblical Greek.
- Learn how to utilize available common software to use the biblical languages in your study and teaching
- Demonstrate essential knowledge of the ten core domains of theological doctrine and the biblical understanding of each of them
- Understand how the technical aspects of language and theology are beneficial to one's own spiritual formation and discipling others
- Acquire a deep understanding of the relationship between biblical theology and systematic theology
