Dear Williamson College Community,
It is with deep gratitude, great expectation, and a profound sense of calling that I step into the role of President of Williamson College. From the moment I first encountered this community, I sensed a people committed to Christ, to one another, and to the transformative work of Christian higher education. Today, I write to affirm that commitment and to invite us—students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, and friends—to join together in a new season of bold faithfulness.
As we look ahead, I believe God is calling Williamson College to embody four defining commitments. These commitments are not merely aspirations; they are invitations to live out the Gospel with courage, excellence, and joy.
- Driven to Excellence and Purposeful Work
Scripture reminds us that our work is never merely our own. “Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord…you serve the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23–24). At Williamson College, excellence is not perfectionism—it is worship. It is the daily choice to bring our best because God is worthy of our best. Paul urges us to dwell on “whatever is true…honorable…just…pure…commendable…if there is any excellence…think about these things” (Philippians 4:8–9). This is the mindset of a Christ-centered scholar and servant leader. And Ecclesiastes reminds us plainly: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Let us commit to excellence in our studies, our teaching, our leadership, and our service—not for our own praise, but for the glory of God.
- Seeking Truth and Building the Kingdom
We are called to be people of truth in a world hungry for clarity and hope. Jesus tells us, “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:13–16). This is not optional; it is our identity. As a college rooted in Scripture, we pursue truth not as an abstract idea but as a Person. Jesus promises, “If you continue in my word…you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:31–32). And He commissions us to join Him in His mission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…And remember, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:19–20). Let us be a community that studies deeply, thinks critically, and lives courageously—shining the light of Christ in every discipline and every workplace.
- Serving Others and Engaging Our Communities
Williamson College exists not to retreat from the world but to serve it faithfully—in the world but not of the world. Jesus paints a vivid picture of kingdom service: feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, caring for the sick, visiting the imprisoned (Matthew 25:34–36). This is not theoretical; it is the heart of Christian witness. Paul echoes this call: “Whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all” (Galatians 6:10). And Peter reminds us that each of us has been entrusted with gifts meant to bless others: “Serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received” (1 Peter 4:10). Let us be known as a college that serves—locally, regionally, and nationally—meeting needs and embodying the compassion of Christ.
- Being Bold and Solving Big Challenges
The challenges facing our world are real, but so is the power of the Spirit within us. “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7). This is the posture of Christian leadership. Scripture calls us to courage: “Be strong and bold” (Deuteronomy 31:23). It reminds us of our identity: “The righteous are as bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1). And it invites us to respond to God’s call with Isaiah’s words: “Here am I; send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). Let us raise up a community that confronts complex problems with wisdom, creativity, and Christlike confidence—leaders who say “send me” when others shrink back.
A Shared Journey Ahead
Williamson College stands at a pivotal moment. Together, we will strengthen our academic programs, deepen our spiritual formation, expand our community partnerships, and build pathways that prepare students to lead with integrity and purpose. But more than anything, we will remain anchored in the Gospel—the unchanging truth that shapes our mission and fuels our hope.
I am honored to serve alongside you. I am praying for you. And I am eager to see what God will do through this extraordinary community. May the Lord bless our work, unite our hearts, and guide our steps in the days ahead!
