FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Williamson University is excited to announce its Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program, a comprehensive 72‑credit graduate degree designed to form scripturally rooted, theologically sound, spiritually mature, and missionally effective leaders.  Strengthening its commitment to Christ-centered, biblically grounded higher education, and drawing on the university’s historic commitment to missions, marketplace ministry, and discipleship, the M.Div. represents a major step forward in Williamson’s vision for shaping Christian leaders equipped for today’s rapidly changing cultural and religious landscape.

Classes begin on January 19, 2027, in online, on-campus, or hybrid formats.

The program offers a wide range of electives or a choice of seven concentration areas:

  • Biblical Studies
  • Business As Mission
  • Contextual Theology
  • Church Management
  • Congregational Leadership
  • Cross-Cultural Ministry
  • Pastoral Care

The program also provides significant benefits for Williamson alumni and graduates of previous ministry programs.  Williamson University offers alumni a 20% tuition discount.  Eligible alumni may transfer up to 42 credit hours from earned graduate studies, allowing many to complete the M.Div. in nearly half the time.  The alumni benefits make the program one of the most accessible and affordable in the nation.

President Dr. Roger J. Huston explained,

“We want to honor the investment our alumni have already made.  By recognizing prior learning and reducing financial barriers, we are opening doors for pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders to advance their calling with passion and purpose.”

The M.Div. integrates rigorous biblical studies, systematic and moral theology, spiritual formation, intercultural leadership, and practical ministry competencies.  Students engage deeply with Scripture through hermeneutics, Old and New Testament seminars, biblical languages, and book studies; develop theological mastery through a three-part systematic theology sequence; and cultivate leadership skills through courses in organizational culture, nonprofit management, and congregational administration.

Dr. Huston emphasized the new program’s strategic importance in advancing Williamson’s mission.

“This M.Div. is more than a degree; it is a formation pathway.  We are preparing thoughtful leaders who can wrestle with contemporary issues while staying rooted in the Word, make compassionate and theologically informed decisions, and serve communities with Christ-like compassion.  As Williamson University continues to grow, this program embodies our commitment to excellence in education that is Christ-centered, biblically based, and that equips students for real-world ministry.”

The M.Div. offers a flexible curriculum for students preparing for pastoral ministry, teaching, missions, chaplaincy, nonprofit leadership, and other vocations that require deep biblical knowledge and spiritually grounded leadership.  The program affirms that graduates will cultivate the ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and shepherd others with wisdom and integrity as they articulate the Christian faith, disciple others, and lead missionally in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Huston highlighted how the program aligns with Williamson’s long-term vision for Christ-centered higher education.

“Our future depends on developing leaders who can navigate cultural complexity without compromising biblical truth.  This M.Div. reflects our strategic direction: expanding graduate theological education, strengthening our ministry and missional footprint, and investing in programs that prepare students for Kingdom impact in every sphere of influence.  It is a cornerstone of the academic ecosystem we are building as Williamson University.”
